Draft Grade — Eagles
Overall B-
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB- FutureC-
Larceny in the Round 5 slot lands the Eagles a B-, Ransom and all.

The Eagles spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Lathan Ransom, the No. 107 name on the board, in Round 5, Pick 27. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

The Cross III pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.

Job largely done: cornerback settled and 7 of 9 of the wish list covered. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick32 Rnd1 Tyler Warren
In the Round 1 slot they get a seam-stretching tight end, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
Pick64 Rnd2 Trey Amos
Trey Amos is a better player than No. 64 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick96 Rnd3 Charles Grant
No drama and no debate, Charles Grant went about where he belonged in Round 3, Pick 32. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick119 Rnd4 Jaylin Noel
Steal is underselling it; Jaylin Noel at pick No. 119 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick161 Rnd5 Willie Lampkin
A reach on Willie Lampkin in the 161st overall pick; the board had better options right there. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick164 Rnd5 Howard Cross III
A real head-scratcher, Howard Cross III in slot 164 is miles ahead of his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick165 Rnd5 Lathan Ransom
Somehow Lathan Ransom was still sitting there in pick 165, and they pounced on premier safety value. It fills a real need, too.
Pick168 Rnd5 Kyle McCord
They will replay Kyle McCord at the 168th pick for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick185 Rnd6 Jay Higgins
By-the-book stuff, Jay Higgins at pick 185 squarely in line with his ranking. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
