Draft Grade — Eagles

FutureB-
The Eagles did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-. The rest of the league had time to spare on Gino Garcia; the Eagles did not wait, grabbing him 65 spots ahead at No. 216. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
Getting King where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They will regret leaving safety for another day if the season turns on it.
Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Kenneth Grant
In pick 32 they get a load in the middle, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick64
Rnd2
Mason Taylor
A conviction pick on Mason Taylor at slot 64 that the board grades a round light. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick96
Rnd3
Denzel Burke
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Denzel Burke at Round 3, Pick 32 is the proof. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick134
Rnd4
Jalen McLeod
Jalen McLeod in the 134th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick161
Rnd5
Emery Jones Jr.
Taking Emery Jones Jr. in pick No. 161 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick164
Rnd5
Hayden Conner
Hayden Conner at the 164th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick168
Rnd5
Kobe King
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Kobe King in the Round 5 slot, plain and simple. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick179
Rnd6
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
They took Dont'e Thornton Jr. at par in pick No. 179, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick216
Rnd6
Gino Garcia
This one needs a full-page explanation: Gino Garcia in pick 216, miles early. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
