Draft Grade — Eagles
Overall
D-
ValueB
NeedB-
TradesF
FutureB-
The Eagles robbed the room for Wilson. Final grade: D-. The phones were a trap the Eagles kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D-.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They will need Taylor to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Wilson at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, edge rusher very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker slipping to pick No. 32 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick64
Rnd2
Mason Taylor
They paid a round early for Mason Taylor in the Round 2 slot, more than the board wanted. It fills a real need, too.
Pick80
Rnd3
Charles Grant
A reach on Charles Grant in pick 80; the board had better options right there. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick96
Rnd3
Denzel Burke
A quiet steal in the 96th pick: Denzel Burke for less than the market said. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick114
Rnd4
Jaylin Noel
Taking Jaylin Noel in the 114th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick116
Rnd4
Kevin Winston Jr.
Somehow Kevin Winston Jr. was still sitting there in No. 116, and they pounced on premier safety value. The roster fit checks out.
Pick122
Rnd4
Jordan James
Good price on Jordan James in the Round 4 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick129
Rnd4
Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson in No. 129 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick144
Rnd5
Vernon Broughton
Vernon Broughton at pick 144 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick145
Rnd5
Tyler Shough
Tyler Shough is a better player than pick No. 145 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick152
Rnd5
Cody Simon
They barely believed it either: Cody Simon still on the board at Round 5, Pick 13. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick162
Rnd5
Andres Borregales
Andres Borregales slid further than he should have, and the 162nd overall pick is lovely value for the specialist. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick163
Rnd5
Willie Lampkin
Willie Lampkin in slot 163 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick165
Rnd5
Nohl Williams
They liked Nohl Williams enough to skip the value, taking him in the 165th pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick166
Rnd5
Chase Lundt
Chase Lundt in pick No. 166 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick169
Rnd5
Ollie Gordon II
A reasonable price with a little left over, Ollie Gordon II in Round 5, Pick 30. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
