FutureB+
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Eagles and Thieneman: B. Somebody in No. 60 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Eagles sat still while Dillon Thieneman, the No. 35 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. No fireworks, but a solid B.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.
Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Chris Brazzell II
No edge and no loss on Chris Brazzell II in pick No. 30; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick60
Rnd2
Dillon Thieneman
Dillon Thieneman at Round 2, Pick 28 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick68
Rnd3
Eli Stowers
A tidy little value on Eli Stowers in the 68th overall pick, a step better than break-even. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick98
Rnd3
Julian Neal
They will replay Julian Neal at the Round 3 slot for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick122
Rnd4
Jaeden Roberts
Jaeden Roberts in No. 122 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick137
Rnd4
Skyler Gill-Howard
Skyler Gill-Howard at slot 137 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick151
Rnd5
Aamil Wagner
They jumped the gun on Aamil Wagner, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick168
Rnd5
DJ Campbell
A straight-up fair deal on DJ Campbell at the 168th pick, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick179
Rnd5
Pat Coogan
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Pat Coogan. It fills a real need, too.
Pick201
Rnd6
Jalon Daniels
No drama and no debate, Jalon Daniels went about where he belonged in slot 201. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick228
Rnd7
Dominic Zvada
A reach for Dominic Zvada in No. 228; a little patience would have been rewarded. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
