PhillyV DRAFTING FOR THEEagles

Draft Grade — Eagles
Overall

FutureB-
The Eagles got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D-. The Gino Garcia selection is the head-turner. The Eagles reached 82 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. Hard to defend, and the D- reflects that.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Johnson steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Nick Emmanwori
In slot 32 they get a two-high chess piece at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Pick64
Rnd2
Alfred Collins
A slide stopped in the 64th overall pick, with Alfred Collins worth more than the price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick96
Rnd3
Dylan Fairchild
They went early on Dylan Fairchild in No. 96, and the value did not follow. It fills a real need, too.
Pick117
Rnd4
Tez Johnson
Value with a capital V on Tez Johnson in the Round 4 slot, a genuine coup. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick130
Rnd4
Denzel Burke
Denzel Burke at pick No. 130 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick134
Rnd4
Hollin Pierce
A straight-up fair deal on Hollin Pierce at Round 4, Pick 32, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
Pick137
Rnd4
Que Robinson
They left a pile of value on the table to take Que Robinson this early at the 137th overall pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick161
Rnd5
Jalen McLeod
They reached into another round for Jalen McLeod, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick164
Rnd5
Vernon Broughton
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Vernon Broughton. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick165
Rnd5
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
A wild overpay on Dont'e Thornton Jr. in the 165th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick168
Rnd5
Oronde Gadsden II
Value said wait; Oronde Gadsden II in pick 168 says they were not listening. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick185
Rnd6
Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson
They liked Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 185. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick223
Rnd7
Gino Garcia
This one needs a full-page explanation: Gino Garcia in slot 223, miles early. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
