Draft Grade — Eagles
Overall D
ValueB+ NeedB TradesF FutureB-
Grand theft in slot 98: the Eagles steal Scott and grade out a D.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Eagles did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. Too much went sideways, and the D is the honest tally.

If Coogan pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Scott.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In the 23rd pick they get a three-down second-level presence at a price that makes it sweeter. More want than need.
Pick54 Rnd2 Olaivavega Ioane
A quiet steal in the 54th overall pick: Olaivavega Ioane for less than the market said. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick68 Rnd3 Eli Stowers
Nothing to complain about; Eli Stowers went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick74 Rnd3 Omar Cooper Jr.
By-the-book stuff, Omar Cooper Jr. at Round 3, Pick 10 squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick98 Rnd3 Keionte Scott
You do not let a cornerback like Keionte Scott reach pick 98 and blink. They did not. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick107 Rnd4 Caden Curry
Caden Curry in the Round 4 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick109 Rnd4 D'Angelo Ponds
A clean, defensible pick in the 109th pick with a little surplus value in D'Angelo Ponds. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick122 Rnd4 Zachariah Branch
The board had Zachariah Branch higher than No. 122, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick137 Rnd4 Kage Casey
They took Kage Casey at par in the 137th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
Pick139 Rnd5 Tanner Koziol
Tanner Koziol at slot 139 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick151 Rnd5 Pat Coogan
A big swing on Pat Coogan at Round 5, Pick 13, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick201 Rnd6 Peyton Bowen
A reach for Peyton Bowen in pick 201; a little patience would have been rewarded. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
