Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B for the Bears.

The Bears went off the board in a big way for Luke Kandra, 44 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

That Tuten pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Interior defensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick10 Rnd1 Kelvin Banks Jr.
In slot 10 they get a cornerstone up front. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick39 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Steal is underselling it; Nick Emmanwori at the 39th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick41 Rnd2 Walter Nolen
Somehow Walter Nolen was still sitting there in the Round 2 slot, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick72 Rnd3 Luke Kandra
Luke Kandra at Round 3, Pick 8 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick149 Rnd5 Rylie Mills
Rylie Mills in the 149th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick197 Rnd6 Bhayshul Tuten
A running back of that caliber at pick 197 is the definition of value, full stop. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick235 Rnd7 Sam Brown
Sam Brown at the Round 7 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick242 Rnd7 John Williams
They paid sticker price for John Williams in Round 7, Pick 24, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
