The Panthers drew a line under the quarterback search with Maye: F. The tape said wait; the Panthers did not. Jordan Jefferson went at pick 168, a good 74 picks before the board was ready.
Whatever Drake Maye becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back.
However the rest shakes out, Wilson at that price is a win they earned. Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.
There is no soft landing here; this class has to massively overperform just to matter.
