Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall
B
ValueB-
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Bengals kept it disciplined and banked a B. Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Bengals never addressed tight end, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The Sawyer reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Will Johnson
Will Johnson in pick No. 17 is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick49
Rnd2
Jack Sawyer
Jack Sawyer at No. 49 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick78
Rnd3
Quinshon Judkins
They read the board right and Quinshon Judkins was the payoff at slot 78. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick119
Rnd4
Xavier Restrepo
A slide stopped in the Round 4 slot, with Xavier Restrepo worth more than the price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
