The Patriots worked the phones like thieves and earned a B.

Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Patriots spent the 178th overall pick on J.J. Weaver, a name most had 160 spots down the list.

That is a specialist worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
