Drphil DRAFTING FOR THESeahawks
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Seahawks answered their biggest question with Penix Jr.. Grade: B-. After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Seahawks committed. Michael Penix Jr. is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Bishop pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick16
Rnd1
Michael Penix Jr.
Michael Penix Jr. at pick No. 16 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick81
Rnd3
Cole Bishop
Cole Bishop at pick 81 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick102
Rnd4
Brenden Rice
Brenden Rice at No. 102 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick118
Rnd4
Cedric Gray
A reasonable price with a little left over, Cedric Gray in Round 4, Pick 18. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick179
Rnd6
Trente Jones
Trente Jones at the 179th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick192
Rnd6
Jared Wiley
Jared Wiley at the Round 6 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick235
Rnd7
Tylan Grable
Fair-plus on Tylan Grable, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
