Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureC+
A franchise passer in Penix Jr. headlines a B- weekend for the Seahawks.

They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Michael Penix Jr. is the Seahawks' quarterback, full stop. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.

They will need Tate to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Sweat at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.

Pick Analysis
Pick16 Rnd1 Michael Penix Jr.
A clean, defensible pick in the 16th pick with a little surplus value in Michael Penix Jr.. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick67 Rnd3 T'Vondre Sweat
T'Vondre Sweat slid further than he should have, and the 67th overall pick is lovely value for the interior defensive lineman. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick78 Rnd3 Christian Mahogany
Christian Mahogany at No. 78 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick119 Rnd4 Sataoa Laumea
Sataoa Laumea in pick No. 119 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick194 Rnd6 Jaylen Harrell
The board had cheaper options than Jaylen Harrell at pick 194, and it noticed. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick233 Rnd7 Demorie Tate
They reached into another round for Demorie Tate, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
