Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Raiders drew a line under the quarterback search with Penix Jr.: B.

Start where it matters. The Raiders took Michael Penix Jr. to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. They are betting Roberts proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick13 Rnd1 Michael Penix Jr.
They did well to land Michael Penix Jr. in pick 13, just ahead of his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick44 Rnd2 Xavier Legette
A straight-up fair deal on Xavier Legette at slot 44, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick77 Rnd3 Byron Murphy II
Byron Murphy II at pick No. 77 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick112 Rnd4 Braelon Allen
A reasonable price with a little left over, Braelon Allen in the 112th pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick150 Rnd5 LaDarius Henderson
LaDarius Henderson at No. 150 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick190 Rnd6 Christian Jones
Good price on Christian Jones in Round 6, Pick 15, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick234 Rnd7 Willie Roberts
They paid a round early for Willie Roberts in the 234th overall pick, more than the board wanted. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
