The Patriots did enough to get by: C.

The Patriots bet big and early on Emani Bailey, 31 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. A mixed bag that lands at C.

That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. However the rest shakes out, Fautanu at that price is a win they earned. The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.

In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Malik Nabers
In the Round 1 slot they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick31 Rnd1 Adonai Mitchell
In No. 31 they get a go-to option on the outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick34 Rnd2 Troy Fautanu
Troy Fautanu slid further than he should have, and slot 34 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick63 Rnd2 Adisa Isaac
A slide stopped in pick 63, with Adisa Isaac worth more than the price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick68 Rnd3 Max Melton
Max Melton at the 68th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick103 Rnd4 Christian Mahogany
A clean, defensible pick in Round 4, Pick 3 with a little surplus value in Christian Mahogany. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick137 Rnd5 Jaheim Bell
Jaheim Bell at pick No. 137 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The roster fit checks out.
Pick180 Rnd6 Joe Milton III
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Joe Milton III well ahead of where he belonged. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick193 Rnd6 Ty'Ron Hopper
Ty'Ron Hopper at slot 193 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick231 Rnd7 Emani Bailey
Emani Bailey in No. 231 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
