The Patriots let Mitchell fall into their laps, and walked away with a A-.

The real work happened on the phones. The Patriots fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with.

Mitchell falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Paul reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.

The Tytus Howard deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.

In the end it comes back to Troy Franklin, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
