Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
Quarterback settled, Penix Jr. in the fold, and a B+ for the Patriots.

Start where it matters. The Patriots took Michael Penix Jr. to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. The bottom line is a respectable B+.

The Bullock value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck.

Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Michael Penix Jr.
In Round 1, Pick 11 they get a passer to set the clock by. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick24 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In No. 24 they get a matchup problem out wide at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick34 Rnd2 Jordan Morgan
They took Jordan Morgan at par in pick 34, which is nothing to complain about. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick71 Rnd3 Chris Braswell
They barely believed it either: Chris Braswell still on the board at the 71st pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick87 Rnd3 Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
A quiet steal in the Round 3 slot: Jeremiah Trotter Jr. for less than the market said. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick103 Rnd4 Caelen Carson
Caelen Carson at the 103rd overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick137 Rnd5 Mekhi Wingo
Mekhi Wingo at slot 137 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick138 Rnd5 Calen Bullock
They will replay Calen Bullock at pick No. 138 for years; that is how good the value is. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick180 Rnd6 James Williams
Fair-plus on James Williams, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick186 Rnd6 Jha'Quan Jackson
Jha'Quan Jackson in the Round 6 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick193 Rnd6 Blake Watson
They liked Blake Watson enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 193. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick226 Rnd7 KT Leveston
Good price on KT Leveston in pick 226, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick231 Rnd7 Eyabi Okie-Anoma
Eyabi Okie-Anoma in slot 231 is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
