Draft Grade — Patriots

FutureC-
The Patriots went off-script early, and it cost them a F. The Patriots clearly saw something nobody else did in Miles Frazier, taking him 89 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. The safety hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
The Sanders pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
In the end, a class that has to defy its grades just to matter.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
In slot 17 they get a weapon on the perimeter, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick38
Rnd2
TreVeyon Henderson
A reach for TreVeyon Henderson in pick No. 38; a little patience would have been rewarded. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick62
Rnd2
Aireontae Ersery
Aireontae Ersery in Round 2, Pick 30 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick69
Rnd3
Zy Alexander
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Zy Alexander at the 69th pick. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick77
Rnd3
Luke Kandra
Luke Kandra at the 77th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick78
Rnd3
Sai'vion Jones
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Sai'vion Jones. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick81
Rnd3
Joshua Farmer
They left a pile of value on the table to take Joshua Farmer this early at the Round 3 slot. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick91
Rnd3
Darius Alexander
Value said wait; Darius Alexander in pick 91 says they were not listening. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick105
Rnd4
Elijah Roberts
Elijah Roberts at pick No. 105 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick118
Rnd4
Emery Jones Jr.
A premium they did not need to pay, Emery Jones Jr. a notch or two before his time. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick154
Rnd5
Miles Frazier
They talked themselves into Miles Frazier at No. 154, and the board did not agree. It fills a real need, too.
Pick176
Rnd5
Raheim Sanders
Circle this one: Raheim Sanders at the 176th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
