Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall A-
ValueA+ NeedB+ TradesA- FutureB-
The Patriots let Moore fall and pounced. Final grade: A-.

Call it larceny. Dante Moore sat on the board until pick No. 257, and the Patriots did not need to be asked twice. The board rewarded a patient, disciplined weekend with a A-.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

The offense got the lion's share of the attention.

Bottom line, they left the weekend a clearly better team, and they earned every bit of it.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Jeremiah Smith
In pick 24 they get a go-to option on the outside at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick55 Rnd2 Suntarine Perkins
Suntarine Perkins at slot 55 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick94 Rnd3 Boubacar Traore
They robbed the room for Boubacar Traore here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick123 Rnd4 Tae Johnson
Tae Johnson in No. 123 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick161 Rnd5 Kewan Lacy
Kewan Lacy at the 161st pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick186 Rnd6 Jamari Johnson
Taking Jamari Johnson in the Round 6 slot is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick210 Rnd6 Will Heldt
Will Heldt in pick No. 210 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick251 Rnd7 Cayden Green
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the 251st overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick257 Rnd7 Dante Moore
Dante Moore at the Round 7 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It fills a real need, too.
