Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall A
ValueA- NeedB TradesA+ FutureA+
Watts should have been long gone. The Patriots pounced, and earned a A.

Whoever sat across the table from the Patriots should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. The sum of the weekend is a deserved A.

On value alone, Watts makes the weekend a net positive. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.

The Patriots clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 7 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Trust the process, because this time the process plainly worked.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Tyler Warren
In slot 25 they get a mismatch in the passing game, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick41 Rnd2 Walter Nolen
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, Walter Nolen in the Round 2 slot, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick69 Rnd3 Xavier Watts
Xavier Watts at Round 3, Pick 5 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick106 Rnd4 Danny Stutsman
The board fumbled Danny Stutsman all the way to the 106th pick, and they scooped it up. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick118 Rnd4 Savion Williams
Savion Williams in pick 118 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick144 Rnd5 LeQuint Allen
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 144 with a little surplus value in LeQuint Allen. The roster fit checks out.
Pick171 Rnd5 Elijah Roberts
They paid a round early for Elijah Roberts in Round 5, Pick 33, more than the board wanted. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick220 Rnd7 Tyler Cooper
They robbed the room for Tyler Cooper here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick238 Rnd7 Carson Vinson
Carson Vinson in pick No. 238 lands just on the right side of the ledger. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
