Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall

ValueB-

FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Patriots: B-. You can draft well and still miss the point. The Patriots did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to edge rusher, which was the need that mattered most. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
The cost of the Everette reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The Royer steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Chris Brazzell II
In the Round 1 slot they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick63
Rnd2
Daylen Everette
A reach on Daylen Everette in slot 63; the board had better options right there. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick95
Rnd3
Zakee Wheatley
Zakee Wheatley in Round 3, Pick 31 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick125
Rnd4
Harold Perkins Jr.
Harold Perkins Jr. in the 125th pick is fair value, right on his grade. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick131
Rnd4
Joe Royer
Joe Royer at No. 131 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick171
Rnd5
Aamil Wagner
Aamil Wagner at the 171st overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
