Good, not great, for the Chiefs: B-. For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Chiefs walked out of the weekend still thin at offensive lineman, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
Every board in the league had Klare lower, and that gap is the story. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Anderson. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but offensive lineman.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Peter Woods
In the 9th pick they get a premier pass rusher, reach and all. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick40
Rnd2
Max Klare
They liked Max Klare enough to skip the value, taking him in the 40th overall pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick74
Rnd3
Domonique Orange
By-the-book stuff, Domonique Orange at No. 74 squarely in line with his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick109
Rnd4
Kaytron Allen
Kaytron Allen in Round 4, Pick 9 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The roster fit checks out.
Pick146
Rnd5
Skyler Gill-Howard
Skyler Gill-Howard at pick No. 146 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick176
Rnd5
Aaron Anderson
Aaron Anderson in slot 176 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
