Draft Grade — Patriots

FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Patriots. Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Vincent Anthony Jr. at the 125th pick is 48 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. Bell at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Kenyon Sadiq
In No. 31 they get a moveable chess piece at tight end, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
Pick63
Rnd2
Monroe Freeling
A wild overpay on Monroe Freeling in slot 63, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick95
Rnd3
Skyler Bell
Skyler Bell slid further than he should have, and the 95th overall pick is lovely value for the wide receiver. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick125
Rnd4
Vincent Anthony Jr.
Vincent Anthony Jr. at the Round 4 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick131
Rnd4
Kyle Louis
They jumped the gun on Kyle Louis, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick169
Rnd5
Bud Clark
A premium they did not need to pay, Bud Clark a notch or two before his time. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
