Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall A-
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB
Nobody dealt better than the Patriots this weekend: A-.

If you want a masterclass in dealing, watch the Patriots, who turned every swap into a profit this weekend. One of the weekend's best, top to bottom, and a A- to show for it.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. The Henderson steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The Patriots clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.

On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Tetairoa McMillan and all.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Tetairoa McMillan
In No. 12 they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick38 Rnd2 Colston Loveland
Value with a capital V on Colston Loveland in the 38th pick, a genuine coup. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick44 Rnd2 Jihaad Campbell
Jihaad Campbell at slot 44 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick69 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
The board had TreVeyon Henderson higher than pick 69, and the running back fell to them anyway. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick106 Rnd4 Lathan Ransom
Lathan Ransom at the 106th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick144 Rnd5 Mello Dotson
Mello Dotson in the Round 5 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick171 Rnd5 Seth McLaughlin
They paid sticker price for Seth McLaughlin in Round 5, Pick 33, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick220 Rnd7 R.J. Mickens
They took R.J. Mickens at par in pick No. 220, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick238 Rnd7 Cam Jackson
No edge and no loss on Cam Jackson in Round 7, Pick 22; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
