The Patriots let Skattebo fall into their laps, and walked away with a B.

Call it larceny. Cam Skattebo sat on the board until slot 220, and the Patriots did not need to be asked twice. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.

Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
