FutureA
Best value of the weekend goes to the Patriots for Warren: A-. The trade table was a mismatch, and the Patriots were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value.
If Simon pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
On value alone, Warren makes the weekend a net positive.
Trust the process, because this time the process plainly worked.
Pick Analysis
Pick3
Rnd1
Kelvin Banks Jr.
In the 3rd overall pick they get an anchor for the offensive line. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Nick Emmanwori at Round 2, Pick 2. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick36
Rnd2
Tate Ratledge
Tate Ratledge at pick No. 36 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick67
Rnd3
Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren in No. 67 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick81
Rnd3
Deone Walker
Deone Walker slipping to pick 81 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick103
Rnd4
Cody Simon
They talked themselves into Cody Simon at the Round 4 slot, and the board did not agree. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
