The Thor Griffith selection is the head-turner. The Patriots reached 60 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.

Noel at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. It is not that Porter is a bad player; it is that the Patriots had louder needs to answer first.

They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
