Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall C+
ValueB- NeedB TradesD- FutureB-
Quarterback settled, Maye in the fold, and a C+ for the Patriots.

After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Patriots committed. Drake Maye is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C+ in the wash.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. However the rest shakes out, Smith at that price is a win they earned.

A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Drake Maye
In the 3rd pick they get their quarterback of the future at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34 Rnd2 Adonai Mitchell
By-the-book stuff, Adonai Mitchell at pick No. 34 squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick68 Rnd3 Patrick Paul
They paid sticker price for Patrick Paul in Round 3, Pick 4, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick103 Rnd4 Caelen Carson
They read the board right and Caelen Carson was the payoff at pick 103. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick121 Rnd4 Blake Fisher
Blake Fisher at the 121st overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick136 Rnd4 Christian Jones
Nothing to complain about; Christian Jones went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It fills a real need, too.
Pick137 Rnd5 Jarrian Jones
A straight-up fair deal on Jarrian Jones at slot 137, value and slot in agreement. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick145 Rnd5 Anthony Gould
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 5 slot with a little surplus value in Anthony Gould. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick180 Rnd6 Tykee Smith
A safety of that caliber at the 180th pick is the definition of value, full stop. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick193 Rnd6 Curtis Jacobs
Curtis Jacobs at pick 193 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick231 Rnd7 Trey Knox
They did well to land Trey Knox in pick No. 231, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
