Rogers should have been long gone. The Patriots pounced, and earned a B.

Call it larceny. Caleb Rogers sat on the board until Round 7, Pick 16, and the Patriots did not need to be asked twice. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.

They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. The Mondon Jr. pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots still on the board. The cost of the Slater reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
