Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureD
The Patriots cashed the board's mistake on Pritchett: B.

You build a draft on nights like this. Nehemiah Pritchett had no business being available in slot 182, and the Patriots did the only sane thing and turned in the card. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. The Patriots paired the rookies with proven help, DeAndre Hopkins leading the way.

Every board in the league had McCaffrey lower, and that gap is the story.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Brock Bowers
In pick No. 6 they get a seam-stretching tight end. A real need, handled.
Pick17 Rnd1 Jared Verse
In pick 17 they get juice off the edge at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick27 Rnd1 Jordan Morgan
In Round 1, Pick 27 they get protection for the quarterback, even if it was a touch early. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34 Rnd2 Adonai Mitchell
Adonai Mitchell in the 34th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick39 Rnd2 J.J. McCarthy
No edge and no loss on J.J. McCarthy in slot 39; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick68 Rnd3 Kingsley Suamataia
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Kingsley Suamataia in the 68th pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick90 Rnd3 Kris Abrams-Draine
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kris Abrams-Draine at the Round 3 slot is the proof. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick104 Rnd4 Javon Baker
Nice patience on Javon Baker, who had no business lasting to No. 104. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick136 Rnd4 Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott at the 136th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It fills a real need, too.
Pick152 Rnd5 Luke McCaffrey
The board had cheaper options than Luke McCaffrey at pick No. 152, and it noticed. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick182 Rnd6 Nehemiah Pritchett
They barely believed it either: Nehemiah Pritchett still on the board at slot 182. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick229 Rnd7 Frank Gore Jr.
Fair-plus on Frank Gore Jr., a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
