Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Patriots, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. Put together, it is a D.

They have staked the next five years on Drake Maye, which is the only story that really matters here. It is not that Newton is a bad player; it is that the Patriots had louder needs to answer first. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

Hadden at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.
