Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Patriots were there to profit. Barrett Carter, the No. 83 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 145th overall pick. The bottom line is a respectable B.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They left with safety solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
