Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall C+
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureB
The Patriots cashed the board's mistake on Singleton: C+.

The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Nicholas Singleton, the Round 7 slot, roughly 119 picks past where he belonged. It nets out a thoroughly average C+.

The cost of the Monheim reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere.

That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

The verdict is a shrug for now, with the swing picks left to write the real ending.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Josh Simmons
In pick 4 they get a cornerstone up front, a steep price for the projection. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick35 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Steal is underselling it; Nick Emmanwori at the 35th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick36 Rnd2 Isaiah Bond
A clean, defensible pick in the 36th overall pick with a little surplus value in Isaiah Bond. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick67 Rnd3 Colston Loveland
The board fumbled Colston Loveland all the way to pick No. 67, and they scooped it up. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick79 Rnd3 Jihaad Campbell
They robbed the room for Jihaad Campbell here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick103 Rnd4 Dylan Sampson
Dylan Sampson at Round 4, Pick 2 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick138 Rnd5 Danny Stutsman
Danny Stutsman in slot 138 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick153 Rnd5 Jonah Monheim
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jonah Monheim this early at the Round 5 slot. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick219 Rnd7 Nicholas Singleton
Taking Nicholas Singleton in the 219th pick is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick220 Rnd7 Jay Higgins
Jay Higgins in slot 220 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick238 Rnd7 Thor Griffith
Thor Griffith at Round 7, Pick 22 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
