Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall D-
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Patriots bled value on every deal, hence the D-.

Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Jalen Travis at the 220th pick is 68 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D-.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.

However the rest shakes out, Edwards at that price is a win they earned.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, edge rusher very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Kelvin Banks Jr.
In Round 1, Pick 4 they get a long-term starter on the line. A real need, handled.
Pick38 Rnd2 Derrick Harmon
They let Derrick Harmon come to them and pounced at No. 38. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick69 Rnd3 Jack Bech
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 69 with a little surplus value in Jack Bech. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick77 Rnd3 Dylan Sampson
Dylan Sampson is a better player than the Round 3 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick82 Rnd3 Darien Porter
Darien Porter at slot 82 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick144 Rnd5 Kurtis Rourke
Kurtis Rourke at the 144th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick149 Rnd5 Malachi Moore
Nice patience on Malachi Moore, who had no business lasting to pick 149. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick171 Rnd5 Willie Lampkin
Willie Lampkin at slot 171 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Pick174 Rnd5 Ben Sauls
Ben Sauls slipping to pick No. 174 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick191 Rnd6 Jack Kiser
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jack Kiser at Round 6, Pick 15. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick217 Rnd7 Isaac TeSlaa
The board had cheaper options than Isaac TeSlaa at the 217th pick, and it noticed. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick220 Rnd7 Jalen Travis
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jalen Travis well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick238 Rnd7 Donovan Edwards
Donovan Edwards in No. 238 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick239 Rnd7 Bryson Nesbit
A wild overpay on Bryson Nesbit in the Round 7 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
