The Patriots lost the trade table, and the D tells the story.

Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Patriots, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. The math is unkind, and the D follows.

The cost of the Nesbit reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The Burke pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with interior defensive lineman, safety and other spots still on the board. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

However the rest shakes out, Warren at that price is a win they earned.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.

In slot 4 they get a premier pass rusher. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick38 Rnd2 Tyler Warren
A tight end of that caliber at the Round 2 slot is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.

By-the-book stuff, Darien Porter at Round 3, Pick 5 squarely in line with his ranking. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.

Jayden Higgins at No. 74 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.

Value with a capital V on Quinshon Judkins in pick 77, a genuine coup. A need, and now a little less of one.
