Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Patriots.

The Patriots bet big and early on John Nestor, 28 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. No fireworks, but a solid B-.

They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. That Baugh pick is the receipt they will wave around later.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Leonard Moore
In the 23rd overall pick they get a press-man option on the boundary. More want than need.
Pick54 Rnd2 Jadan Baugh
They barely believed it either: Jadan Baugh still on the board at the 54th pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick85 Rnd3 Reed Harris
A reach on Reed Harris in Round 3, Pick 21; the board had better options right there. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick122 Rnd4 Koi Perich
They jumped the gun on Koi Perich, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick161 Rnd5 John Nestor
John Nestor at pick 161 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick186 Rnd6 Jayden Virgin-Morgan
Jayden Virgin-Morgan at slot 186 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick210 Rnd6 Benjamin Brahmer
Benjamin Brahmer at pick 210 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick226 Rnd7 Christian Alliegro
Christian Alliegro in the 226th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick251 Rnd7 Elinneus Davis
No edge and no loss on Elinneus Davis in pick No. 251; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick257 Rnd7 Sheridan Wilson
No drama and no debate, Sheridan Wilson went about where he belonged in No. 257. A need, and now a little less of one.
