Draft Grade — Patriots

FutureB-
The jury is out on the Patriots. For now, C+. There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Patriots started one anyway for Jack Kelly, 64 picks ahead of schedule. It washes out to a C+, no better and no worse.
Stukes at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Chris Brazzell II
In the 31st overall pick they get a go-to option on the outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick83
Rnd3
Michael Taaffe
Michael Taaffe at slot 83 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick95
Rnd3
Jack Endries
A reach on Jack Endries in pick No. 95; the board had better options right there. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick108
Rnd4
Treydan Stukes
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Treydan Stukes in No. 108. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick125
Rnd4
Malachi Lawrence
They reached a country mile for Malachi Lawrence at the 125th pick, and the board is aghast. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick130
Rnd4
Nate Boerkircher
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Nate Boerkircher well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick147
Rnd5
Dametrious Crownover
Nice patience on Dametrious Crownover, who had no business lasting to the 147th pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick168
Rnd5
Kaleb Elarms-Orr
A conviction pick on Kaleb Elarms-Orr at the 168th overall pick that the board grades a round light. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick176
Rnd5
Ephesians Prysock
They paid up for Ephesians Prysock at the Round 5 slot when waiting would have done the job. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick189
Rnd6
Bobby Jamison-Travis
Bobby Jamison-Travis at pick 189 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick200
Rnd6
Jack Kelly
Jack Kelly at Round 6, Pick 21 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick204
Rnd6
Cole Payton
Cole Payton in pick No. 204 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick207
Rnd6
Kaelon Black
Kaelon Black at No. 207 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
