The Patriots lost the trade table, and the C+ tells the story. You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Patriots did exactly that with Bryce Foster in Round 5, Pick 13. It nets out a thoroughly average C+.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. The Pena steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The Patriots paired the rookies with proven help, Kayvon Thibodeaux leading the way.
So much rides on Denzel Boston that the real verdict is a season or two away.
