The Patriots lost the trade table, and the D+ tells the story.

The Patriots spent real capital to be 38 picks early on Trey Zuhn III, and the board is going to hold them to it. Too much went sideways, and the D+ is the honest tally.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Getting Slaughter where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, edge rusher very much included.
