A costly weekend of dealing drags the Patriots to a D+.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Patriots shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.

They are betting Alexander proves the room right and everyone else wrong. With tight end unsolved, spending premium capital on cornerback is the choice that costs them.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up. That is a safety worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, tight end very much included.
