FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Patriots a B-. Nobody had Drew Kendall this high, and it is not close. The Patriots reached 56 spots to get him at the 238th pick.
However the rest shakes out, Gray at that price is a win they earned. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Will Campbell
In the 4th overall pick they get a blindside protector. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick38
Rnd2
Derrick Harmon
They read the board right and Derrick Harmon was the payoff at pick No. 38. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick69
Rnd3
Jayden Higgins
A quiet steal in pick 69: Jayden Higgins for less than the market said. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick77
Rnd3
Ozzy Trapilo
A straight-up fair deal on Ozzy Trapilo at Round 3, Pick 13, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick106
Rnd4
Kevin Winston Jr.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Kevin Winston Jr. in the Round 4 slot. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick144
Rnd5
Bhayshul Tuten
A reach on Bhayshul Tuten in slot 144; the board had better options right there. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick217
Rnd7
Joshua Gray
Joshua Gray slid further than he should have, and pick 217 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick220
Rnd7
Karene Reid
Value with a capital V on Karene Reid in Round 7, Pick 4, a genuine coup. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick238
Rnd7
Drew Kendall
Drew Kendall in the 238th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
