Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB
The Patriots drew a line under the quarterback search with Daniels: B+.

They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Jayden Daniels is the Patriots' quarterback, full stop. The bottom line is a respectable B+.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. Weaver has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Mims.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
No edge and no loss on Jayden Daniels in the Round 1 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
Pick34 Rnd2 Amarius Mims
They let Amarius Mims come to them and pounced at slot 34. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick35 Rnd2 Tyler Guyton
Tyler Guyton at the 35th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick39 Rnd2 Tyler Nubin
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Tyler Nubin in pick No. 39. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick68 Rnd3 Brenden Rice
Brenden Rice at the 68th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick104 Rnd4 Khyree Jackson
They paid sticker price for Khyree Jackson in Round 4, Pick 4, and that is fine. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick136 Rnd4 Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott at pick 136 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick140 Rnd5 Theo Johnson
They paid a round early for Theo Johnson in No. 140, more than the board wanted. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick182 Rnd6 Isaiah Davis
The board had cheaper options than Isaiah Davis at the 182nd overall pick, and it noticed. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick188 Rnd6 Jaylan Ford
Good price on Jaylan Ford in No. 188, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick229 Rnd7 J.J. Weaver
They liked J.J. Weaver enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 229. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
