Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall A
ValueB+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureA+
Moore should have been long gone. The Patriots pounced, and earned a A.

Thirty-one other rooms let Malachi Moore slide, and the Patriots were the ones holding the card at No. 174. Highway robbery. Very little went wrong, and the A is earned.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

In the end it comes back to Armand Membou, and a haul good enough to build on right away.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Armand Membou
In slot 20 they get a cornerstone up front. A real need, handled.
Pick38 Rnd2 Emeka Egbuka
Emeka Egbuka slid further than he should have, and the 38th overall pick is lovely value for the wide receiver. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick51 Rnd2 Donovan Ezeiruaku
Donovan Ezeiruaku at pick 51 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick69 Rnd3 Dylan Sampson
A slide stopped in pick No. 69, with Dylan Sampson worth more than the price. It fills a real need, too.
Pick77 Rnd3 Cameron Williams
Cameron Williams is a better player than No. 77 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick84 Rnd3 Maxwell Hairston
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Maxwell Hairston at Round 3, Pick 20 is the proof. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick106 Rnd4 Omarr Norman-Lott
Omarr Norman-Lott in the Round 4 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick174 Rnd5 Malachi Moore
Taking Malachi Moore in the 174th pick is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick217 Rnd7 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
They barely believed it either: Dont'e Thornton Jr. still on the board at Round 7, Pick 1. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick220 Rnd7 Jaylen Reed
Jaylen Reed at the 220th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick238 Rnd7 Jamon Dumas-Johnson
Value with a capital V on Jamon Dumas-Johnson in No. 238, a genuine coup. It adds depth where they could use a little.
