Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall

FutureD-
The Patriots turned the phones into found money: B-. When the story of this class is written, it opens with David Walker at Round 3, Pick 7, a reach of 101 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
Giddens falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. The safety hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Will Campbell
In pick 11 they get a long-term starter on the line. A real need, handled.
Pick38
Rnd2
Omarion Hampton
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 38, where Omarion Hampton graded well above the range. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick69
Rnd3
Darien Porter
They went early on Darien Porter in the Round 3 slot, and the value did not follow. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick71
Rnd3
David Walker
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for David Walker. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick75
Rnd3
Alfred Collins
Steal is underselling it; Alfred Collins at slot 75 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick77
Rnd3
Jayden Higgins
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jayden Higgins in No. 77. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick99
Rnd3
Tez Johnson
A slide stopped in the 99th pick, with Tez Johnson worth more than the price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick105
Rnd4
David Bailey
A wild overpay on David Bailey in the Round 4 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick138
Rnd4
Jack Kiser
Jack Kiser at pick No. 138 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick145
Rnd5
Kurtis Rourke
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kurtis Rourke. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick219
Rnd7
Cobee Bryant
Cobee Bryant in No. 219 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick222
Rnd7
Luke Lachey
They robbed the room for Luke Lachey here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The roster fit checks out.
Pick240
Rnd7
DJ Giddens
They will replay DJ Giddens at Round 7, Pick 22 for years; that is how good the value is. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick254
Rnd7
Tyler Loop
They left a pile of value on the table to take Tyler Loop this early at slot 254. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
