The Patriots let Sanders fall into their laps, and walked away with a A-. The Patriots ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided.
Sanders falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The cost of the Griffith reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
The Patriots paired the rookies with proven help, Jordan Addison leading the way.
Bottom line, with Will Campbell leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
Will Campbell
In the Round 1 slot they get a building block for the line. A real need, handled.
Pick34
Rnd2
Denzel Burke
A slide stopped in the 34th overall pick, with Denzel Burke worth more than the price. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick40
Rnd2
Emery Jones Jr.
A clean, defensible pick in pick 40 with a little surplus value in Emery Jones Jr.. The roster fit checks out.
Pick66
Rnd3
Rod Moore
Rod Moore in No. 66 is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick130
Rnd5
Raheim Sanders
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Raheim Sanders in the 130th pick, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick169
Rnd6
Thor Griffith
They reached into another round for Thor Griffith, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick194
Rnd7
CJ Daniels
Nothing to complain about; CJ Daniels went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
