Grand theft in the 98th pick: the Patriots steal Dumas-Johnson and grade out a B+.

The trade table was a mismatch, and the Patriots were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value.

Spending an early pick on linebacker with edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. That Dumas-Johnson pick is the receipt they will wave around later. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
