FutureC+
The Patriots bled value on every deal, hence the C. The trade table was where it all came apart. The Patriots shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Sanders pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
In Round 1, Pick 8 they get a No. 1 receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick35
Rnd2
Jabbar Muhammad
Jabbar Muhammad in pick 35 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick40
Rnd2
Omarion Hampton
Nothing to complain about; Omarion Hampton went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick43
Rnd2
Emery Jones
Emery Jones at the 43rd pick is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick67
Rnd3
Tate Ratledge
A tidy little value on Tate Ratledge in slot 67, a step better than break-even. The roster fit checks out.
Pick68
Rnd3
Clay Webb
They paid sticker price for Clay Webb in pick No. 68, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick94
Rnd3
Shilo Sanders
Value with a capital V on Shilo Sanders in No. 94, a genuine coup. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick99
Rnd4
Brant Kuithe
A clean, defensible pick in the 99th overall pick with a little surplus value in Brant Kuithe. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick100
Rnd4
Rylie Mills
Rylie Mills in slot 100 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick131
Rnd5
Gentry Williams
A slide stopped in pick 131, with Gentry Williams worth more than the price. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick195
Rnd7
Savion Williams
No edge and no loss on Savion Williams in Round 7, Pick 3; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
