Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall A
ValueB+ NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureA+
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Patriots and Gordon II: A.

This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Ollie Gordon II, the No. 142 name on the board, stolen at No. 236. Just about everything broke right, and the A follows.

They will need Griffith to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck.

For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.

In the end it comes back to Tre Harris, and a haul good enough to build on right away.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Tre Harris
In pick 9 they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick38 Rnd2 Abdul Carter
Circle this one: Abdul Carter at pick No. 38 is a fall that decides a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick41 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Taking Nick Emmanwori in the 41st overall pick is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick71 Rnd3 Dylan Fairchild
Dylan Fairchild slipping to No. 71 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick72 Rnd3 Hollin Pierce
Hollin Pierce in the 72nd pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick86 Rnd3 Omarion Hampton
Omarion Hampton in slot 86 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick108 Rnd4 Zy Alexander
They left a pile of value on the table to take Zy Alexander this early at the Round 4 slot. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick144 Rnd5 Jay Higgins
Jay Higgins in Round 5, Pick 6 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick179 Rnd6 Bryce Foster
Fair-plus on Bryce Foster, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick212 Rnd6 Eli Stowers
Steal is underselling it; Eli Stowers at Round 6, Pick 37 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick214 Rnd6 Thor Griffith
Thor Griffith at the 214th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick218 Rnd7 Tonka Hemingway
Tonka Hemingway is a better player than No. 218 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick220 Rnd7 Kyren Lacy
They paid up for Kyren Lacy at pick No. 220 when waiting would have done the job. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick236 Rnd7 Ollie Gordon II
A running back of that caliber at the Round 7 slot is the definition of value, full stop. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick256 Rnd7 Jeffrey Bassa
Jeffrey Bassa at pick 256 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
