You build a draft on nights like this. Brashard Smith had no business being available in the 144th overall pick, and the Patriots did the only sane thing and turned in the card.

Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They will need Lacy to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.

They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
