FutureB-
Nobody dealt better than the Patriots this weekend: B. The Patriots torched the value chart for Tyler Batty, taking him 77 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
The Kiser pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck.
The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Adding Jeffery Simmons by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick6
Rnd1
Will Campbell
They paid a round early for Will Campbell in the Round 1 slot, more than the board wanted. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick34
Rnd2
Shavon Revel Jr.
A tidy little value on Shavon Revel Jr. in the 34th pick, a step better than break-even. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick38
Rnd2
Tre Harris
Tre Harris slid further than he should have, and slot 38 is lovely value for the wide receiver. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick77
Rnd3
TreVeyon Henderson
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing TreVeyon Henderson in pick No. 77. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick134
Rnd4
Cody Simon
Cody Simon slipping to Round 4, Pick 33 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick143
Rnd5
Davison Igbinosun
They left a pile of value on the table to take Davison Igbinosun this early at No. 143. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick217
Rnd7
Garrett Dellinger
Garrett Dellinger at the Round 7 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick220
Rnd7
Tyler Batty
Tyler Batty at the 220th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick238
Rnd7
Jack Kiser
Jack Kiser in pick No. 238 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
