More right than wrong for the Patriots, and a B- to prove it.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Patriots would have aced it. Miles Frazier at the Round 5 slot is 54 spots clear of where he belonged. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

That Higgins pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

In slot 6 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. A real need, handled.

This one needs a full-page explanation: Alfred Collins in Round 3, Pick 8, miles early. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.

They talked themselves into Jayden Higgins at pick 86, and the board did not agree. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick108 Rnd4 Jay Higgins
You do not let a linebacker like Jay Higgins reach the 108th pick and blink. They did not. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick144 Rnd5 Miles Frazier
Miles Frazier at the 144th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.

Taking Bryce Foster in Round 7, Pick 4 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
